Emerald Mound Grange Hall

On our way back from St. Louis we took U.S. Route 50 again and just 1 mile west of Lebanon, Illinois on the north side of the road we came across an extremely rare Grange Hall established in 1921. Grange Halls were meeting places of The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry.

The Grange is a fraternal organization which encourages families to band together to promote the economic and political well-being of the community and agriculture.

This is only the second Grange Hall that I haveĀ  found in my travels over the years.
